It is important to Robert that he understand his client's area of business, he keeps himself up-to-date with relevant legal and business developments and, if he becomes aware of a change in the law or other relevant information that the client may not have seen, he takes the initiative and informs them.
When a client instructs Robert he sees it as his role to find out and understand what it is the client is really seeking to achieve and to confirm this with them.
Although a UK tax efficient structure is always important to a client, especially to a multinational client wishing to maximise its world-wide tax efficiency, in Robert's experience it is also critical that the planning put in place operates in a practical and useful way for the business unit that has to operate within it.
